If you love the classic flavors of a cheeseburger but want something a bit different, this quick cheeseburger pie is just what you need. It's a fun and simple twist on traditional cheeseburger recipes, combining the ease of biscuit dough with a flavorful beef and cheese filling. Whether you’re cooking for family or entertaining friends, this pie is sure to be a hit!
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch pie pan with a bit of shortening or cooking spray.
Open the can of refrigerated buttermilk biscuits. Separate the dough into 10 biscuits. Press 6 of these biscuits into the bottom and up the sides of your pie pan to form the crust. Cut the remaining 4 biscuits into quarters and set aside.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion, stirring frequently, until the beef is fully browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
Stir in the ketchup, yellow mustard, salt, and black pepper. Cook the mixture uncovered until it’s heated through and slightly bubbly. Spoon the beef mixture into the biscuit-lined pie pan.
Place the cheese slices evenly over the top of the beef mixture. Arrange the biscuit quarters around the edge of the pie, point side down, creating a “crust” around the filling.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 17 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
Allow the cheeseburger pie to cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help the filling set and make it easier to slice.
