These homemade bars offer all the goodness of traditional chocolate cookies but in an easier-to-make, one-pan format. Whip up a batch for your next gathering or simply enjoy them as a comforting treat at home. Let's get baking!
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, sea salt, and baking soda. Set aside.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine melted unsalted butter with packed light brown sugar and granulated sugar until well combined.
Add 1 large egg, 1 large egg yolk, and 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract to the mixture, and mix until smooth.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in the stand mixer, mixing on low speed until just combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Pour the cookie dough into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Optionally, lightly sprinkle sea salt flakes over the top of the bars.
Bake the cookie bars in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is light golden brown and the edges start to pull away from the pan.
Once baked, allow the bars to cool in the pan on a wire rack until they reach room temperature.
Cut the cooled bars into squares and serve. Enjoy your delicious, authentic chocolate chip cookie bars!
